Did you know..."Honeydew" is in fact the American name for the White Antibes cultivar which has been grown for many years in southern France and Algeria. In China, honeydews are known as the Bailan melon; they are a locally famous product near Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu province in China's northwest.
honeydew DescriptionHoneydew a creamy white or yellow-green rind that ripens to creamy yellow. The flesh is usually pale green. Fruit SelectionHoneydew should be symmetricaly shaped and free of cracks, soft spots, or dark bruises. Slight softness is a good sign. Fruity fragrance is a good sign of maturity. Thumping and shaking are not effective indicators of ripeness. Recommended StorageLeave the honeydew at room temperature for two to four days to make it softer and juicier.
